Her Seat is Vacant is the thesis film for award winning filmmaker Bohdana Smyrnova. Set in New York, it is the story of Vira, a Ukrainian woman in her 50’s, coming to terms with the loss of her sister as she struggles to understand the complexity of her relationship with her lover. As much a film about the universality of loss and love, Her Seat is Vacant is also a touching look at an immigrant woman finding a place for herself in the world. Her Seat is Vacant is currently in post-production.
