Bohdana Smyrnova began her career as a filmmaker in Kyiv, Ukraine, where she was born and raised. Her films have screened at more than 100 festivals around the world, including the prestigious Rotterdam, Clermont-Ferrand, Taipei Golden Horse, Slamdance and French theatrical release; winning many awards. A filmmaker with a distinct voice, Bohdana explores through her stories complex human relationships, desires conflicting with reality, and situations that pose no right choice. She is currently pursuing an MFA in Film Production at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts on prestigious Dean's Fellowship and is in post-production for her thesis film, Her Seat is Vacant - a short drama about Ukrainian immigrants in New York. Bohdana is preparing for her first feature to be shot in 2010.
